Ezra Pound

Ezra Pound was an influential American poet and critic, known for his role in the modernist movement in literature. Born in 1885, he championed new forms of poetry and was a key figure in promoting the works of other writers, including T.S. Eliot and James Joyce. Pound advocated for brevity and clarity in poetry, famously coining the phrase "Make it new!" His own notable works include "The Cantos," an ambitious poem reflecting his ideas on culture and economics. His later life was controversial due to his political views, particularly his support for fascism during World War II. Pound passed away in 1972.
