Extratime

Extratime refers to the additional time added to the end of a sports match, typically when the score is tied. It is commonly seen in games like football (soccer) and basketball. In football, if the match is still tied after the regular 90 minutes, two extra 15-minute halves are played. This allows teams a chance to break the deadlock and determine a winner. In other sports, the format for extratime may vary, but its main purpose remains the same: to ensure a fair conclusion to closely contested games when standard time isn't sufficient.
