Exposure Value (EV)
Exposure Value (EV) is a numerical scale that combines a camera's aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to represent the overall exposure in a photograph. It helps photographers understand how bright or dark an image will be, with higher EVs indicating brighter scenes and lower EVs indicating darker scenes. Adjusting EV allows control over image brightness: increasing EV makes the image lighter, while decreasing EV makes it darker. Think of EV as a shorthand to quickly assess and compare exposure settings, making it easier to achieve consistent and well-lit photographs across different lighting conditions.
