European Free Trade Association (EFTA)
The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1960 to promote free trade and economic integration among its member countries. It includes Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. Unlike the European Union (EU), EFTA does not have a customs union or a single market, allowing members more flexibility in their trade agreements. EFTA countries share a commitment to reducing trade barriers, facilitating trade of goods and services, and enhancing cooperation. It serves as a platform for its members to negotiate independent trade deals with non-EU countries.
