European Citizens' Initiative

The European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) is a tool that allows EU citizens to propose new laws or changes to existing ones. If at least one million citizens from a significant number of EU countries support the initiative, the European Commission must consider it. This process aims to enhance democracy by giving citizens a direct voice in shaping EU policies. It encourages civic participation and helps ensure that the concerns of ordinary people are heard at the European level.
