ethylene inhibitors

Ethylene inhibitors are substances used to control the natural plant hormone ethylene, which influences processes like fruit ripening, flower aging, and leaf fall. By blocking or slowing ethylene’s action, these inhibitors help delay ripening, extend shelf life, or manage plant growth. They are commonly used in agriculture and floriculture to maintain fruit quality during storage and transport. Examples include aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) and 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP). These inhibitors do not harm the plant but provide growers with more control over developmental timing and timing of harvest.
