Ethical Relativism
Ethical relativism is the idea that moral values and beliefs are not absolute but vary between cultures and individuals. According to this view, what is considered right or wrong depends on social, cultural, or personal circumstances. For instance, in one culture, a behavior may be seen as moral, while in another, it could be judged negatively. This differs from ethical absolutism, which holds that certain moral truths apply universally. Ethical relativism highlights the diversity of human beliefs and emphasizes understanding and tolerance but can also lead to challenges in addressing moral disagreements.
