Etemenanki

Etemenanki was a large ziggurat, or stepped pyramid, located in ancient Babylon, near present-day Iraq. It is often associated with the biblical Tower of Babel. Built during the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar II in the 6th century BCE, this structure was dedicated to the god Marduk and symbolized the city’s greatness. Standing about 91 meters (300 feet) tall, it featured multiple terraces and a temple at the top. Etemenanki represents the blend of religion, architecture, and the ambition of ancient civilizations to reach the heavens and connect with their gods.
