ETC (Ethereum Classic)
Ethereum Classic (ETC) is a decentralized blockchain platform that enables developers to build and run smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps). It originated from the original Ethereum blockchain after a 2016 protocol split, known as a hard fork, which occurred following a controversy over a $50 million hack. Unlike Ethereum (ETH), which implemented a change to reverse the hack, ETC maintained the original blockchain, emphasizing immutability and sticking to the principle that transactions cannot be altered. ETC aims to facilitate trustless, censorship-resistant digital transactions and applications without relying on central authorities.
