Ernest Bevin

Ernest Bevin (1881-1951) was a prominent British politician and trade union leader. Initially a union organizer, he became the general secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union. During World War II, Bevin served as Minister of Labour, where he played a key role in mobilizing the workforce for the war effort. After the war, he became the Foreign Secretary in Clement Attlee's Labour government, focusing on rebuilding Britain and promoting international cooperation. He was influential in establishing Britain's foreign policy during the early Cold War, particularly in supporting NATO and addressing post-war challenges in Europe.
