ERG Theory
ERG Theory, developed by Clayton Alderfer, explains human motivation through three core needs: Existence (basic survival and safety), Relatedness (connection and relationships with others), and Growth (personal development and achievement). Unlike traditional theories that suggest a strict hierarchy, ERG allows these needs to operate simultaneously and flexible, meaning people can focus on different needs depending on circumstances. If a higher need isn’t met, individuals might revert to satisfying more basic needs. This model helps us understand that motivation is dynamic and personalized, influenced by various factors rather than a fixed order.
