ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
ERCP, or Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography, is a specialized procedure used to diagnose and treat problems in the bile and pancreatic ducts. A doctor inserts a flexible tube with a camera (endoscope) through your mouth into the small intestine. Using imaging guidance, they can see the ducts and, if needed, inject contrast dye to identify blockages, stones, or narrowing. The procedure allows for treatment, such as removing stones or placing stents to improve drainage. It helps manage conditions like gallstones, bile duct obstructions, or pancreatic issues, providing both diagnostic information and therapeutic intervention in a single session.
