EPO receptor

The erythropoietin (EPO) receptor is a protein found on certain cells in your body, mainly in the bone marrow, where blood cells are produced. When the hormone erythropoietin (EPO) binds to this receptor, it signals the cells to make more red blood cells. These red blood cells transport oxygen from your lungs to tissues throughout your body. The EPO receptor acts like a keyhole, and EPO is the key; together, they trigger the production of red blood cells, helping maintain healthy oxygen levels in your blood.
