Epistemic Responsibility

Epistemic responsibility refers to our duty to seek knowledge and form beliefs based on good evidence and reasoning. In the context of internalism and externalism, it contrasts two views: internalism holds that this responsibility is based on what we can access within our own minds, while externalism posits that factors beyond our immediate awareness, such as social practices or reliability of sources, also play a critical role. Essentially, it challenges us to consider how we justify our beliefs and the broader context that influences our understanding of what we know.
