EPIRB
An EPIRB, or Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon, is a safety device used primarily in maritime settings to alert rescue services in emergencies. When activated, it transmits a distress signal that includes the beacon’s location to satellites, which then relay the information to rescue coordination centers. EPIRBs are designed to be waterproof and can automatically activate when they hit the water. They are essential for ensuring maritime safety, helping rescuers locate individuals in distress during incidents like sinking vessels or medical emergencies at sea.
