Employees' Compensation Appeals Board

The Employees' Compensation Appeals Board (ECAB) is a federal body that hears appeals from workers who have been denied benefits under the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA). When federal employees are injured on the job or suffer work-related illnesses, they can file claims for compensation. If their claims are denied or they disagree with the decisions made by the Department of Labor’s Office of Workers' Compensation Programs, they can appeal to the ECAB. This board reviews the cases, considers evidence, and makes decisions to ensure fair treatment and appropriate compensation for injured workers.
