Elements of a Tort

A tort is a wrongful act that causes harm to someone, leading to legal liability. There are four key elements: 1. **Duty**: The defendant had a legal responsibility to act in a certain way. 2. **Breach**: The defendant failed to meet that duty, either by action or inaction. 3. **Causation**: The breach directly caused harm to the plaintiff. 4. **Damages**: The plaintiff suffered actual losses, such as physical injury or financial loss. All four elements must be proven for a tort claim to be successful in court.
