Electro-mechanical television

Electro-mechanical television uses rotating electrical and mechanical components to scan and display images. In early TVs, a spinning disk with holes (a disc) would pass light from a camera’s image to a sensor, converting visual information into electrical signals. These signals controlled a mechanical system—like a moving mirror or a cathode-ray tube—that recreated the image on a screen. The process involved precise synchronization of mechanical motion and electrical signals, making it a hybrid of electrical and mechanical technology before fully electronic systems replaced it. This method was an important step in television development.
