Eleanor of Aquitaine (c. 1122–1204) was a powerful and influential queen consort of France and later England. She was the wealthiest woman of her time and played a crucial role in the politics of medieval Europe. Married first to King Louis VII of France, she had two daughters before their marriage was annulled. She then married Henry II of England, becoming the mother of several future kings, including Richard the Lionheart and King John.
