Elamite Script

Elamite script was an ancient writing system used by the Elamite civilization in what is now southwestern Iran, around 3000 to 500 BCE. It evolved from early cuneiform writing and includes several forms, such as Linear Elamite and the earlier more pictographic script. The script was employed mainly for administrative, religious, and monumental inscriptions, capturing details about governance and rituals. While not fully deciphered, Elamite writing provides valuable insights into Elamite culture and history. Its complexity reflects the civilization’s administrative sophistication and interaction with neighboring cultures like Mesopotamia.
