Egypt–Israel Peace Treaty

The Egypt–Israel Peace Treaty, signed in 1979, was a historic agreement that ended decades of conflict between the two countries. It resulted in Egypt recognizing Israel as a neighbor and establishing diplomatic relations, including normalization of diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. In exchange, Israel withdrew from the Sinai Peninsula, territory it had captured in the 1967 Six-Day War. This treaty made Egypt the first Arab country to officially recognize Israel, leading to a period of peace between them. The agreement has helped reduce regional tensions and fostered cooperation, although broader Arab-Israeli conflicts have continued.
