Edward Teach, commonly known as Blackbeard, was a notorious pirate active in the early 18th century. He operated mainly along the American eastern coast and the Caribbean, intimidating ships with his imposing appearance and fearsome reputation. Blackbeard commanded a pirate ship called the Queen Anne’s Revenge and was known for his cunning tactics and ruthless behavior. His legendary persona has become a symbol of piracy in popular culture. Blackbeard was eventually killed in a naval battle in 1718, but his fearsome legacy endures as one of history’s most famous pirates.
