Edward Morley
Edward Morley was an American chemist and physicist best known for his work in spectroscopy and for the Morley-Miller experiment, which tested the existence of aether, a supposed medium for light waves. Though the experiment did not find evidence for aether, it contributed to the development of Einstein's theory of relativity. Morley's research in spectroscopy helped advance our understanding of light and atomic structure. His work highlights the intersection of experimental science and philosophical questions about the nature of reality and how we measure and understand the physical world.
