Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale

The Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale (ESAS) is a tool used in healthcare to help evaluate a patient’s symptoms, especially in palliative care. It consists of a list of common symptoms, such as pain, fatigue, nausea, and depression. Patients rate the severity of each symptom on a scale from 0 to 10, where 0 means no symptoms and 10 indicates the worst imaginable symptoms. This method allows healthcare providers to understand a patient's experience better, track changes over time, and tailor treatment plans to improve their quality of life.
