Ecocentrism or Holism
Ecocentrism, or Holism, is an ethical perspective that emphasizes the importance of entire ecosystems, rather than just individual organisms. It argues that all parts of the environment—plants, animals, water, air, and earth—are interconnected and have intrinsic value. This viewpoint encourages us to consider the health of the whole ecosystem when making decisions, promoting sustainability and biodiversity. Rather than focusing solely on human interests, ecocentrism advocates for the protection of nature as a vital component of our shared existence, recognizing that the well-being of humans is tied to the well-being of the planet.
