Echinoderms
Echinoderms are marine animals characterized by a symmetrical, often spiny, body plan. They include species like starfish, sea urchins, and sand dollars. Echinoderms have a unique radial symmetry (usually five-sided) and a water vascular system that helps with movement and feeding. They lack a central brain but have a nerve ring around their central disc. Their skin is often tough and covered with spines or tubercles. Echinoderms play important roles in ocean ecosystems by recycling nutrients and controlling other marine populations. They are fascinating examples of complex, coastal marine life.
