East-West conflict

The East-West conflict, primarily during the Cold War, refers to the ideological and geopolitical struggle between the communist Eastern bloc (led by the Soviet Union) and the capitalist Western bloc (led by the United States and its allies). Spanning from the end of World War II to the early 1990s, this conflict shaped global politics, as each side sought to promote its political and economic systems. It involved military alliances, nuclear arms races, and proxy wars, while fostering significant cultural, social, and technological competition. The conflict ultimately ended with the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.
