Early maps

Early maps were representations of the world created before modern technology and accurate measurements. They often reflected the knowledge, beliefs, and cultural views of their time, featuring artistic elements and sometimes mythical creatures. Cartographers, the mapmakers, used various methods, like estimates from travelers' accounts, to depict landforms and regions. Many early maps, such as those from ancient Egypt, Greece, and the medieval period, were functional for navigation and trade, but often lacked precision. They provide valuable insights into historical perspectives on geography and how different societies understood their world.
