DXA scan

A DXA scan, or Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry, is a quick and non-invasive test that measures bone density. It uses low-dose X-rays at two different energy levels to assess the amount of mineral content in bones, primarily helping to diagnose osteoporosis and fracture risk. The procedure is painless and typically takes around 10-15 minutes. DXA scans are also used to evaluate body composition, including muscle and fat percentages. Results provide valuable information for healthcare providers to develop appropriate treatment or prevention strategies for bone health.
