Duty Ethics
Duty ethics, or deontological ethics, is a moral framework that emphasizes the importance of following rules and duties when determining right from wrong. It asserts that certain actions are inherently right or wrong, regardless of their consequences. This approach is often associated with the philosopher Immanuel Kant, who argued that we should act according to maxims that can be universally applied. Duty ethics aligns with moral absolutism, which holds that specific moral principles are universally applicable and must be followed without exception, ensuring that our actions respect the inherent worth and rights of individuals.
