Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS)
The Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method is a system used in cricket to fairly adjust the target scores when a limited-overs match is interrupted by weather or other delays. It calculates revised scores based on the remaining resources—such as overs and wickets—both teams have at the time of interruption. By comparing the resources available to both teams, DLS determines a new target to ensure a fair contest, regardless of interruptions. This method helps maintain the competitive balance of the game, ensuring that the team batting second has a fair chance to win under changed conditions.
