Dubuffet Theory

Dubuffet Theory, developed by French artist Jean Dubuffet, emphasizes the value of art created outside traditional norms, such as art by non-professionals, children, and the mentally ill. Dubuffet believed that this "art brut," or raw art, captures genuine human expression and emotion, free from societal constraints and academic standards. He argued that such art reveals profound insights into the human experience and maintains a purity that often escapes conventional artistic practices.
