Dual Process Models
Dual Process Models describe how our thinking operates through two distinct systems. System 1 is fast, automatic, and intuitive—like instantly recognizing a familiar face or feeling instinctively that something is wrong. System 2 is slower, more deliberate, and logical—used when solving complex problems or making careful decisions. These models help explain why we sometimes rely on gut feelings and other times engage in careful reasoning, highlighting how different mental processes work together to influence our judgments and behaviors.
