Dry dock
A dry dock is a specialized area in a shipyard used for repairing or maintaining ships and boats. It is essentially a basin that can be emptied of water, allowing vessels to be lifted out of the water for inspection, cleaning, repairs, and renovations. When the dock is flooded, ships can enter; then the water is drained, leaving the ship exposed on a dry platform. This process makes it easier for workers to access the hull and other underwater parts without the risk of being submerged, ensuring proper maintenance and safety for the vessel.
