Droseraceae
Droseraceae is a family of carnivorous plants that capture and digest insects to supplement their nutrient intake in poor soils. The most famous members are sundews (Drosera) and the Venus flytrap (Dionaea). Sundews have sticky, glandular hairs that trap insects, which they then digest with enzymes. The Venus flytrap has hinged leaves that snap shut when prey touches tiny hairs inside. These plants have adapted to thrive in environments where nutrients like nitrogen are scarce, using their specialized traps to obtain essential nutrients from their prey.
