Drop Goal
A drop goal is a method of scoring points in rugby by dropping the ball onto the ground and then kicking it through the opponent’s goalposts during open play. It’s typically attempted when a team can’t score a try but wants to gain points. If successful, it awards three points. The player must drop the ball from their hands onto the ground and kick it immediately as it bounces up. Drop goals are strategic and often used in tight matches to quickly add to the team’s score or shift momentum.
