Dreadnoughts

Dreadnoughts were a revolutionary class of battleships introduced in the early 20th century, notably by the British Royal Navy in 1906. They featured an “all-big-gun” design, meaning they were armed with large, powerful cannons, making them more effective in naval warfare. Dreadnoughts had steam turbine engines for improved speed and were heavily armored for protection. Their advent marked a shift in naval strategy, rendering older battleships obsolete and leading to an arms race among navies worldwide, significantly influencing military tactics in World War I and beyond. The term “dreadnought” has since become synonymous with powerful warships.
