dreadnought project

The Dreadnought Project refers to the initiative to design and build the HMS Dreadnought, a revolutionary battleship launched by Britain in 1906. This ship drastically changed naval warfare by introducing an all-big-gun armament and steam turbine propulsion, making it faster and more powerful than any previous warship. The Dreadnought’s capabilities rendered older battleships, known as "pre-Dreadnoughts," obsolete, leading to a naval arms race among world powers. The term "dreadnought" has since come to symbolize a class of battleships that followed, marking a pivotal shift in military maritime strategy.
