Dom Pedro IV of Portugal was a key figure in Portuguese history, serving as king from 1826 to 1828. He was also Emperor Pedro I of Brazil, ruling there from 1822 until his abdication in 1831. Born in 1798, he played a major role in Brazil’s independence from Portugal. When his father died, Pedro declared independence for Brazil and became its first emperor. Later, he returned to Portugal and became king, striving to modernize the country. His leadership helped shape both Brazil and Portugal during a period of political change and independence movements.
