Directive 95/46/EC
Directive 95/46/EC was a European Union law established in 1995 that set rules for how personal data should be collected, stored, and processed to protect individuals' privacy. It aimed to ensure that personal information, such as names, addresses, and financial details, is handled securely and transparently across member states. The directive also gave people rights over their data, like access and correction. Although it has been replaced by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2018, it laid important groundwork for data protection laws in Europe.
