Digambara sect
The Digambara sect is a branch of Jainism, an ancient Indian religion focused on non-violence and spiritual purity. Originating around the 3rd century BCE, Digambaras believe that asceticism requires monks to renounce all material possessions, including clothing, symbolizing renunciation of worldly ties. They hold that women must be reborn as men to attain liberation and emphasize strict adherence to non-violence, truth, and non-possessiveness. Their practices and teachings differ from other Jain sects, notably the Svetambara, particularly in their approach to clothing and gender roles, reflecting their commitment to renunciation and spiritual discipline.
