diffusion flames
A diffusion flame occurs when fuel and oxygen (air) meet at a flame but are not mixed beforehand. Instead, the fuel vapor and air diffuse toward each other, mixing at the flame zone. Combustion happens where they meet, producing visible flames, heat, and light. This process is common in candles and gas burners. Unlike premixed flames, diffusion flames often have distinct zones with unburned fuel and oxygen, leading to characteristic shapes and a flame that is more stable but less controlled.
