Diffuse reflector
A diffuse reflector is a surface that scatters incoming light in many directions rather than reflecting it directly back. When light hits such a surface, it bounces off irregularities or a matte finish, causing the light to spread out unpredictably. This scattering effect makes the surface appear evenly lit from different angles and prevents glare or strong reflections. Examples include chalkboards, paper, or painted walls. Diffuse reflectors are useful in lighting and optical systems because they help distribute light uniformly and reduce harsh reflections, enhancing visual comfort and clarity.
