Diamond-Blackfan Anemia
Diamond-Blackfan Anemia is a rare genetic disorder where the bone marrow, which produces blood cells, doesn't make enough red blood cells. This leads to anemia, causing fatigue, pallor, and weakness. It usually presents in early childhood. The condition results from mutations in genes that help produce red blood cells. Some individuals may also have physical differences like a small head, broad thumb, or craniofacial features. Treatment often includes corticosteroids, blood transfusions, or bone marrow transplants. While it primarily affects red blood cell production, ongoing medical care can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
