Diamantina River

The Diamantina River is a significant waterway located in central-western Queensland, Australia. It flows through a remote and arid region known as the Channel Country, characterized by its unique landscape of flat plains and seasonal floodplains. The river is approximately 600 kilometers (about 370 miles) long and eventually joins the Barcoo River. It is known for its fluctuating water levels, which can rise dramatically during the wet season, creating temporary lakes and supporting diverse wildlife. The Diamantina plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem and agriculture, particularly for grazing livestock.
