Dialysate

Dialysate is a special fluid used in dialysis, a treatment that filters waste, excess fluid, and toxins from the blood when the kidneys can’t perform this function effectively. It is composed of water, electrolytes, and other substances that help restore a proper balance of minerals in the body. During dialysis, blood is drawn from the patient and passed through a machine where it exchanges substances with the dialysate across a special filter called a membrane. The clean blood is then returned to the body, helping maintain healthy chemical levels and fluid balance.
