DHT (Dihydrotestosterone)
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a potent form of testosterone, a hormone primarily responsible for developing male characteristics. It is produced when the enzyme 5-alpha reductase converts testosterone into DHT, which plays a key role in the growth of facial and body hair, deepening of the voice, and the development of male reproductive tissues. DHT is also involved in certain medical conditions, such as baldness and prostate enlargement. Although essential for male development, excess DHT can contribute to these issues, which is why medications often target its production.
