Denialism
Denialism is the refusal to accept well-established facts or scientific evidence about important issues, despite clear proof. It often involves rejecting reality due to personal beliefs, interests, or misinformation. For example, denying climate change or the severity of a pandemic despite overwhelming scientific consensus. While questioning and debate are healthy, denialism dismisses credible evidence, undermining understanding and progress. It can hinder solutions to significant problems and prolong suffering or danger. Recognizing denialism helps us critically evaluate information and trust reliable sources, fostering informed decision-making.
