The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) is a country located on the northern part of the Korean Peninsula. It is a socialist state with a centralized government led by the ruling Workers' Party and its leader, currently Kim Jong-un. The country emphasizes state control over the economy, media, and military, with limited political freedoms and authoritarian rule. North Korea maintains a strong military focus, including nuclear weapons development, and is largely isolated internationally. Despite its official name, it is often described as an authoritarian regime with significant restrictions on individual freedoms.
