Deese-Roediger-McDermott paradigm
The Deese-Roediger-McDermott (DRM) paradigm is a psychological experiment that shows how our memories can be influenced by suggestions. In this study, participants hear a list of related words (like "bed," "dream," "night"). Afterward, they often mistakenly recall or recognize a word that wasn't on the list but is related, like "sleep." This demonstrates that our memories are not perfect and can be shaped by the context of the information we receive, leading us to falsely remember things that sound familiar. It highlights the complexities of memory in the realm of general knowledge.
